Interesting locations out of the conservation units

These are areas that because of the preservation of the covering vegetation have special interest for bird watching in Rio de Janeiro state. Some of them have been included as conservation units, some others have not, and however, all of them have interesting locations that we have visited. Many of those areas are private properties and others close to roads. We will mention the species that we consider of major interest in each of those places.

Teresópolis and Guapimirím: Place where the Kinglet Calyptura (Calytura Cristata) was rediscovered and discovered the Rio de Janeiro Antwren (Myrmotherula fluminensis) - Citrôlandia. Route to arrive to the place where the tiete de coroa* was rediscovered: It is a little before you get to Teresópolis when you are going up the mountains coming from Rio de Janeiro. After 200 meters passing the Garrafão gas station, there is a close curve on the left, exit of the main road in a small-unasphalted road, go down the hill for around 500 meters. O tiête de coroa has been seen in a road crossing where the main track goes straight ahead in a stoned road you go down abruptly on the right.
